Clay Forms Large Clods — Machine-Before Issue
Define the finished purpose, reference levels, underlying material condition and the evidence required by the receiving operation. Geometry alone does not establish structural or agronomic performance.
This reference assembles relevant extracts from the guide library. It is general project planning, not a local project report, verified specification or translated technical publication.
Machine Before - Dugong - Machine After
The machine before Dugong determines what material arrives; the machine after Dugong determines what surface must leave. An excavator can expose formation, a loader can deliver a stockpile, and a roller can compact the placed layer. The scraper's role is bounded by those interfaces.
Before moving material
Identify the upstream operation and its remaining defects.
Receiving operation and checks
Hand over the measured surface to compaction, cultivation, paving or turf preparation. Record which operation owns levels, materials and final acceptance.
The workflow can include Dugong where suitable; it does not assume Dugong replaces adjacent equipment.

Clay clods can leave a smooth-looking surface that changes after they break down. Large clods may also prevent even placement of a growing or fill layer.
Before moving material
Assess moisture and clod size before final grading.
Receiving operation and checks
Prepare the final layer when the material is workable. Recheck level and layer uniformity after material preparation.
Do not use scraper passes as a substitute for required material processing.

Clay grading depends strongly on working condition. Material that is too dry can resist cutting and form clods; material that is too wet can smear, rut and lose its intended shape.
Before moving material
Assess the clay and the required layer before choosing the working window.
Receiving operation and checks
Prepare for the specified cultivation or compaction operation. Watch for rutting, smearing and large buried clods.
The useful moisture condition depends on the soil and task; no universal percentage is specified.
