Crossfall Control — How It Works

Define the finished purpose, reference levels, underlying material condition and the evidence required by the receiving operation. Geometry alone does not establish structural or agronomic performance.

This reference assembles relevant extracts from the guide library. It is general project planning, not a local project report, verified specification or translated technical publication.

Precision Grade Control

Precision grade control is the stage where a reference system is commissioned for the intended surface. It needs design transfer and equipment checks before productive grading.

Before moving material

Confirm design revision, datum and the working-edge reference.

Receiving operation and checks

Verify surface results independently during and after the work. Record calibration and any reference interruptions.

Machine guidance is not acceptance certification.

Crossfall Control

Crossfall control sets the transverse profile separately from longitudinal grade. Roads and other surfaces can require a crown, one-way fall or transitions between profiles.

Before moving material

Identify the designed cross-section and its changes along the asset.

Receiving operation and checks

Verify adjoining sections so the profile changes smoothly. Check ties to drains, gutters and existing surfaces.

Machine tilt indication is not a substitute for final cross-section measurement.

Weight That Works

Working weight influences cutting, traction and ground loading, but weight alone does not establish grading performance. Ballast, a carried load and attachment weight also change the demands on the tractor, hitch and tyres. Consider the complete combination in both loaded and empty states.

Before moving material

Obtain the machine weights, hitch limits and tractor information.

Receiving operation and checks

Use a controlled trial to establish a workable pass depth. Observe slipping, rutting and unstable handling before chasing greater load.

More weight may damage soft ground and does not make a machine suitable for every tractor.

Record the job inputs

Use this checklist to turn the scenario into a specific brief. Retain the design revision and agree who accepts each completed layer.

Checklist ticks apply only while this page is open. Include the completed brief in your project records.
